Regular E‑7 Navywide Advancement Practice Exam

The correct choice indicates that the minimum resistance required for personnel ground straps is 250k Ohms. This value is crucial in maintaining safety and preventing the accumulation of static electricity that can cause hazardous situations, especially in environments where flammable materials are present.

A ground strap is designed to safely dissipate any built-up static electricity by providing a path to ground. The specified minimum resistance ensures that the strap is effective in doing this without allowing excessive current flow, which could be dangerous to personnel or equipment. If the resistance is too low, it could result in high current paths, increasing the risk of shock or fire. Therefore, a minimum resistance of 250k Ohms helps to ensure adequate performance of grounding measures while still maintaining safety limits for personnel safety.

Options suggesting lower resistance values do not meet this safety standard, as they would increase the possibility of current flow that could lead to unsafe conditions. The higher resistance value provides reassurance that the ground strap will effectively protect against static discharges. This requirement reflects established safety protocols in various technical and industrial applications.
